Benchmark Scientific QuEChERS Vortex Mixer
- For use with QuEChERS and other sample prep methods
- Powerful, hands-free shaking/vortexing
- Pulsing program for interval mixing
- Supplied with QuEChERS rack starter kit: 7 x 50 mL tubes, held horizontally 50 x 15 mL tubes, held vertically 50 x 1.5/2.0 mL tubes, held vertically
Benchmark's BenchMixer XLQ has been designed for use in QuEChERS and other sample prep methods. Supplied with racks for 50 mL tubes held horizontally and 15 mL and 1.5/2.0 mL tubes held vertically, it takes the place of traditional manual shaking in these applications.
Multiple samples can be processed simultaneously in the BenchMixer XLQ's large capacity racks, saving time and preventing operator fatigue. The vigorous, consistent shaking ensures all samples are exposed to identical conditions within the same batch of samples, as well as between batches.
The BenchMixer XLQ creates a true vortex in vertical sample racks by holding the top of the tube stationary while the bottom rotates in a 3.6 mm orbit. Time and speed are precisely controlled by the digital microprocessor. A pulse mode allows for more vigorous mixing. Quiet operation, minimal vibration and a long service life are guaranteed by the precisely balanced drive system and powerful motor.
Using the BenchMixer XLQ is simple. To load the sample racks, loosen the knobs on the stationary steel rods and raise the top sample plate. One rod is shorter than the other, allowing the plate to be lifted up and swiveled to one side. After samples are loaded, lower the plate into place and tighten the knobs. Select the desired speed and run time on the digital control panel and press start. The BenchMixer XLQ can perform unattended mixing for as little as 1 minute or up to 100 hours.
While the BenchMixer XLQ is configured primarily for QuEChERS protocols, additional racks are available to accommodate nearly any type of vessel commonly found in the laboratory (ask for details). Built for heavy-duty use, the instrument carries a 2-year warranty.

This robustly built spectrophotometer combines a surprisingly high level of performance with a budget price. Wavelength is set from a simple rotary control and the instrument is ready within just a few minutes from switch-on. A membrane keyboard positioned next to the large, clear LCD display allows the operator to rapidly switch between %T and Absorbance and to set Zero Abs/100%T. The 20nm bandpass and wavelength range of 335 to 1000nm provides the accuracy required for vast applications in quality control and teaching laboratories.
Model 1100RS
This spectrophotometer shares the basics of the Model 1100, but with better accuracy and precision. The membrane keyboard positioned next to the large, clear LCD display allows the operator to rapidly switch between %T, Abs, and Concentration modes, and to automatically set Zero Abs. (100%T). The narrow 10nm bandpass is ideally matched to the wavelength range of 335 to 1000nm. Standard output includes an RS-232C for connection to a computer and the optional UNICO Application Software for Window's 9x. This low-cost program expands the capabilities to include Kinetics and Standard Curve with up to 5 calibration curve fits.
The sample compartment of the 1100 Series accepts either 10mm rectangular cuvettes, including disposable semi-micro cuvettes, or test tubes (standard). Optional holders expand the capability for COD vials or test tubes up to 1 inch in diameter. Both models are great for environmental, quality control, and teaching laboratories.
